How to Host a Dinner with Freely in Hope

How do we hold onto hope in the midst of uncertainty, violence, and despair? Together.

Now more than ever, we need each other—when we gather, share, and connect, we have the opportunity to experience hope even in the most challenging times.

For 15 years, Freely in Hope has stood alongside survivors of sexual violence, helping women heal, reclaim their lives, and lead innovative programs that bear hope in times of crisis. It is in these moments that we are so grateful for the gift of our community—you—who have prayed for, dreamed with, and inspired hope in us over these past 15 years. As a longtime donor, friend, and advocate for Freely in Hope, we want to invite you to join our Celebrating 15 Years Campaign by hosting a dinner and hope-filled conversations.

By hosting an Evening of Hope, you:

  • Spark meaningful conversations about hope in difficult times.
  • Share the stories of how Freely in Hope is bearing witness to hope through survivor-led transformation.
  • Introduce our $1 million campaign that supports survivors to lead, flourish, and transform communities for generations.

How to host

Your evening can be intimate or large, formal or informal—the focus is for people to build connection through hope-filled conversations. Share your dinner dates with us so that a Freely in Hope survivor-leader can attend to share in person or virtually!

I’m excited to invite you to join me for an Evening of Hope, a special dinner conversation in support of Freely in Hope’s 15th Anniversary Campaign. I have been a longtime supporter of Freely in Hope and would love to share about why this organization is so important to me.

For 15 years, Freely in Hope has walked alongside survivors of sexual violence, providing healing, care, and opportunities to reclaim their lives. Now, they are stepping boldly into African survivor-led leadership, ensuring survivors guide programs and decisions that transform communities.

Now more than ever, we need each other—our conversations, our stories, and our commitment can spark change and help survivors flourish.

During our evening, we’ll:

  • Share a meal and meaningful conversation about finding hope in difficult times.
  • Hear stories of how Freely in Hope is bearing witness to hope through survivor-led transformation.
  • Explore ways to support Freely in Hope’s $1 million campaign to build a survivor-led future.

How our story began

Fifteen years ago, I made a career shift that completely changed me. Having worked with numerous nonprofits in Kenya and Zambia as a filmmaker, I was going in and out of homes, in and out of villages, and in and out of communities, listening to heart wrenching stories from survivors of sexual violence.

TRAUMA INFORMED CARE—not just a buzzword

Sexual violence doesn’t just leave physical scars, it can have a deep and lasting impact on a survivor’s mental health. Without understanding the devastating effects of trauma, we may unintentionally cause more harm.
