How has FIH helped you achieve your dream?
Because of FIH, I realized that I am a survivor and no longer a victim. I am more confident in myself which is why I am able to fight sexual violence. Through the continuous educational support, I have become a nurse who restores optimum health to those in need and puts a smile on their faces. I get to live my dream, thanks to FIH!
How have you transformed since being with FIH?
Since joining FIH, I have learned how to be more courageous and optimistic towards what life has to offer. I was able to forgive myself and allow growth to take place. Before, I would blame myself for all the bad things that happened to me to the point where I allowed myself to continue the cycle of prostitution—I felt that there was no other option. Today, I am a better leader in my community because I was educated and mentored. FIH provided a platform where I could grow in my leadership and become the nurse, woman, and role model I was meant to be.
What was your most favorite moment at FIH?
My favorite moments were during the retreats where we meet with everyone—including our founder, international guests, and mentors. We spend time with each other, share experiences and have fun which supports the healing process. The work of FIH positively impacts survivors like me by helping us heal. They encourage growth and allow survivors to live their dreams through the educational support provided. This builds confidence, awareness, and hope.
